Xtreme Concentrated Photovoltaics

SUNRGI’s mission is simple: Maximize the sun’s reusable energy by concentrating its light on tiny, ultra-efficient solar cells. The compact XCPV module tracks the sun’s rays, magnifies them to 2,000 times their original brightness, then turns roughly 40 percent of that concentrated light into electricity. (Normal solar panels convert just 15 percent.) The Hollywood-based company’s heat-dissipating COOLMOVE technology prevents meltdowns to keep costs down: In fact, the latest module could drop the price of solar to about $.05 per kilowatt-hour, or $.03 cheaper than the national average for coal-generated power.
